| If so which varities and what sort of conditions do they need

| I saw one in an open fronted glass porch in Bexley when I was judging
| London in Bloom last year. The owners said they'd had it there for

| Brilliant Pete!!! I've been thinking what to tell a lady to plant in

her
| open ended S. facing glass porch out in Essex.

Er, before you rush in, remember (a) that Essex is typically colder
than Bexley and (b) he said "quite well protected". If the east
and north east winds curl round into that porch, and that is not a
rare phenomenon, it will die the first winter.

It might be worth a go, but ....

Point taken Nick, she could plant it so that the roots are up against the
house, should be OK then.
Porch has two deep planting troughs either side the full length of the
porch.
