They are grub specialists and can aerate a yard pretty good by poking holes
with their snouts. Sometimes in looking for grubs they get a little over
zealous and turn over some plants, but my experience with them has never
shown them to be a problem -- only a benefit as they will rid your grass of
grub worms.
Sounds like you have a whole tassel of them!
