Default Big Clematis Small Pot....OK to buy

Hi,

was at my local garden centre (red fox nursery) here on tyneside
buying a Jasminium for my wifes birthday and noticed some huge (by
garden centre standards) clematis of different types almost 7 feet
tall but in failry small pots possibly only a couple of litres in
volume but not much more.

They were priced at £9.99 and seemed a total bargain. The plants
looked healthy but if I get some is it not to late in the year to
replant them into my garden?

Chris

They will grow on fine if cut back and replanted, but I wouldn't pay more
for them than the normal price, it should be the size of rootball and number
of stems that govern that. not the height. At this time of year its only a
couple of weeks growth!
