HI
Just looking for opinions on the "best" power filter for a planted tank.
Just gathering equipment to set one up for the first time in many years.
Thanks,
Tom

Look at canister filters, they're widely accepted as being the best choice
for planted tanks. Preferably one with adjustable flow rate. Eheim filters
are widely accepted as the leader in canister filters. I've had one running
for 4 months and haven't touched it since I plugged it in. Admittedly, there
is a very low fish load, so not much gorp to plug it up. I absolutely love
it. It's compact, powerful, and damn near silent. Can't hear it unless I
press my ear up against the cover. Avoid trickle filters, and other filters
that splash the water around, as the additional water/air contact will rob
your water of the CO2 that your plants crave.
