I have mixed results from this practice. My mini daffs flowered well
in their second year in the trough. The tulips didn't in their rather
shallow but wide pot (although they did OK where planted in larger
containers, competing with roses and violas). My guess/interpretation
is that they need plenty of nutrients from the soil/compost; I will
repot the tulips this year, and probably the mini daffs too just in
case.
