flower and how old is it?

Nah, not that patient. I bought it cheap as a 3-leaf plant and iirc
had to wait two or three years for the first flower. Meanwhile I stuck a
fake life-sized strelitzia flower stem in the pot...fairly convincing to
a passing glance until its colour faded :~}. In it's second year of
flowering, I accidentally knocked off the only flower bud before it
opened :-((((. This is the third flowering year; still only one flower
though.
