Default whiskey barrel pond

Well this can't be called a whiskey barrel pond by any stretch of the
imagination...well perhaps if you stretched a bit...or if two swallows
grabbed hold of either end....oh! Excuse me...

Here's a link to what started as a whiskey barrel pond. The whiskey barrel
never worked for me and living things kept dying so I took the plastic
container that I used to line it...20 or thirty gallons...I'm not sure...and
buried it in the ground. I placed some rocks around it added some plants, 2
red cap orandas and ran an airstone to it. I then added a dozen tadpoles.

So... I was out there in the yard looking at them, they come up to eat
crumbled koi pellets...and noticed that the white on their taddy bellies has
extended a bit down their tails...on most of them. Are these legs forming???
Anyway, they are a lot of fun to look at especially when they turn almost
upside down to eat the powdered koi pellets.

Oh...Here's the link to the picture....no page...just a picture for now.

I melted some parrafin wax and lined my barrel then I bought some
small river stones and put them in the bottom then bought a root to
grow some water lilies and they grew like mad. I then went to Walmart
and just picked out some small 95 cent goldfish, one was half black
half orange. That little guy grew and lived for over a year in that
barrel until a friggin seagull swooped in for the kill. I was so
upset! He had outlived all the other fish I tried out in there.

Anyway, got two more fish like him, they are doing great, never have
to feed them, and the barrel pond is doing great.

New here and just wanted to post that in case anyone is interested in
how I made it because all of my neighbors and friends ask me how I did
it.

I have two barrels at my disposal, and plenty of liner. I have been

tempted
on a number of occasions, to put one next to my pond and let it

overflow. It
would give me some noise, some filtration, etc. Hmm...what do I have

planned
for this weekend?

BV.

If you fill them with plants, you'll extra vfs. By placing
a slotted basket at the spillway you'll be able to keep the
plants in the barrels.
