Default How long do carp live?

We used to use the center of good old Wonder bread. Roll it and squash
it into a hard ball around a fairly large hook. (Boy, I "WONDER" what
that stuff does to your colon?) The weight of the dough ball will sink
right to the bottom and like Paul said "Just wait". You better use
heavy tackle and tie yourself to a tree. At ten years old those babies
are going to fight like hell and for a long time ....... they have a
lot of stamina. It's a shame to destroy them but you have to do what
you have to do. I hope after all your trouble you don't end up with a
plant problem. (Something to think about) Good luck!

I used to fish for carp with friends as a kid. We'd use fairly large
hooks
with dough for bait made of just flour and water. We'd put enough
weight on
the line to make it sink to the bottom and just wait.

If you're not doing this already, you might be able to just let it sit
and
check on it a few times a day.

This is the right group. There's some farm pond owners hiding

Carp
lifespans range from 7-20 years and I've seen upwards of 60 years.

Thanks for the reply Sam, you've confirmed what I had heard about

the age.
Catching them is going to be tricky, they've seemed to avoid being

hooked
so
far.
