We had a pond that was just a large puddle (c 3 ft diameter?) and it had
frogs in it. We now have four ponds (one is much bigger) and we have a lot
of frogs in the garden, but we still have plenty of slugs. I'm not sure how
effective they are at slug control. Toads are more known for eating slugs
than frogs are AFAIK. Its still nice to have them though. As someone else
said, the pond alone won't do it, you need sheltering sites (log piles,
long grass, wild corners, open access compost heaps) for them to stay in
your garden.
