Default listserve?

I belong to an Irish Wolfhound listserv and they allow pictures to be
posted
within messages and I like it sooo much. I was hoping there'd be a
gardening listserv that was similar. I don't like having to go between
newsgroups or between messages and files to look at photos--I guess I'm
spoiled s.

Flipping between groups isn't a big deal if your news client is user
friendly. For example, I use Outlook Express for reading newsgroups --
flipping between here and the binaries group is literally a single click in
the right pane. Compared to the pain of every message being a potential
file attachment, I'll take that any day.

If you keep searching, you'll likely find an e-mail list for gardening that
welcomes attachments. You might want to spend some time at Google,
pursing a few keywods.

As for why I'd prefer a listserv--I like this newsgroup for
what it is but a listserv is generally more civilized and not so much

chaff
to separate from the wheat.

This group's not that bad for chaff. We have a few knuckleheads that post
here from time to time, just like any other group, but most are pretty good
about their postings. The average news reader does have the ability to put
a poster on ignore status -- that way, you won't even have to deal with
him/her any longer.
