Default How to get rid of Ailanthus Altissima?

This plant is so resilient that after cutting it into little pieces and
putting it into the garbage can I noticed that the pieces of trunk IN THE
CAN were sprouting new growth -- after 1 week the new growth was sprouting
new growth. (No soil contact mind you.) It has to be one of the most
amazing growers I have ever seen.

I have seen that too, having cut down one of the trees next to my fence. The
log is laying in my side yard and putting out branches. I'm quite sure at
some point it will send down roots. It's just an incredible plant, and I
think if we dropped this thing on Mars there would be forests and an oxygen
atmosphere inside of a decade.

In the course of trying to get it out of my lawn I discoverd that the
infestation is so complete and thorough that I have to peel the sod up from
the entire lawn to get it out of there, it's root systems are so pervasive.

Even this measure will not get all of the roots out, and I shall have to
also poison those roots that go deeper than the sod.
