Growing Clematis from seed?

My C. tangutica self-seeds itself a bit. My guess is that the
seeds are long-lived and germinate erratically, perhaps only
under some conditions. This is a good strategy for a woodland
plant.

I have grown some C. vitalba from wild collected seed, but it
hasn't flowered yet.

Nick Maclaren.
