Hi Lynda,

Sounds a bit mad, but go to your nearest pet shop that sells fish tank
supplies. You can buy little bundles of elodea whatsit complete with lead
weights for a small sum of money. (Haven't bought any for years so can't
help on price!). People put these in their fish tanks to help with the
oxgenating, and the fish seem to eat it as well! It can take over if it
likes conditions, but in you barrell it would be easy to control. Go for
several bundles, and don't expect immediate results.
