Default Can you help identify these berries?

If the ends of the stems are a yellow colour when cut, then its is almost
certainly a Mahonia.

They grow here in the UK - and are black.

...has eight photographs of them and the bush they come from.

The bush has spiky leaves - like holly.

The berries are dark - rather like blueberries - but are red inside - and
are a bit smaller - and more lemon-shaped. They come bunched together
on strands with 20 to 30 berries.

The bushes grow to about 2M tall.

The berries taste OK - but are not very sweet.

I'd love to know the species - or even the family.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
