When you are working with hoses/ plastic pipe and you have to fit a hose
over pipe etc and it's a tight fit, then heat it first.
I bring water to the boil and fill a vacuum flask with it.
The end of the hose /pipe fits into the flask to heat and the water stays
hot for an hour or so. This is especially useful if I am working out in the
field.
