Default Dying Koi

Richard C. Eberhardt wrote:
I have raised 4 koi for the last few years. They are currently about 12"
long.

About three weeks ago, I added three small koi to the pond. Everybody
seemed to be doing fine.

About 10 days ago, the big koi stopped eating. One of them appeared to have
spawned, since I saw the eggs, and I attributed the lack of appetite to the
fact that they seemed to be eating the eggs. They also seemed listless,
hovering in front of the water flows.

The largest koi died two days ago. First, she spent a lot of time hiding
under the shelf at the bottom (atypical). Then, she was trouble keeping her
balance and was dead the next morning. I saw no sores, fungus, etc. on her.

The second largest died this morning. Again, she looked fine on the
outside, but was floating on her side, breathing shallowly, and not moving.

I had the water tested for ammonia and ph at the pet store and they said
that it was fine.

Today, I found that one of the smaller koi has fungus. While dipping it, it
died. However, I did not see this fungus on the larger fish at all.

I am checking into whether there was a mosquito or herbicide spraying
lately.

It looks like the next largest koi is starting to follow the same pattern:
not eating, hiding, hovering.

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich
