Default New fence- new planting suggestions.

In article , Chris French and Helen
Johnson writes
There are plans to plant a couple more small trees either side of the Cherry -
we don't like it much and it would give the possibility of removing the cherry
in the future once they have grown up a bit. Possibilities include Crab apple,
fruiting cherry, magnolia.

Suggestions please. :-)

Medlar. Big (compared with apple) white flowers in a flush in spring and
intermittently all summer followed by fruits which turn a luminous gold
and make an excellent jelly. Slowish growing, but might eventually be
too big for what you want. My father's medlar is no larger than his crab
apple, but then his crab is huge!
