Default How do you treat for the white pine wweevil?

Hi Peter,

Problem with White pine Weevil is that it attacks open grown trees. The
best
way to stop it is to plant your pines in tight spaces or underplant
large oaks with
white pines. Once the trees get over 12' unaffected by them, they are
golden.
Sprays will not eliminate future insects, just current ones and as I
usually say, do more
harm than good because they have a tendency to kill the insects that
feed on the pests
when killing the pests themselves. Prune out the terminal leaders (and
insects) that are
affecting your trees and try to cultivate a new terminal leader so your
tree doesn't have
3+ forks like alll of the 60-year old open grown white pines on my
property do.

Good luck.

It is attacking yard trees I planted. Is there a specific spray, or
time of year it should be applied?
