Default Please help!!! lawn sprinkler issues

Hi,
We have several issues with our lawn sprinklers. I'll go through one
by one. I'm a total novice, so please bear with me.

1. Between our house and the neighbor's house there is only 10ft of
gap and the builder placed about 5 sprinkler heads each for both of
our houses. They are unnecessary and we're having to mow this area
twice a week. I'm thinking of plugging 3 of these heads. Is there a
way to turn of only few sprinkler heads and leave the rest without
blocking the flow? Does this damage the pipes due to excess pressure?

2. While digging a hole for a plant in the backyard, I cracked the
underground pvc sprinkler water pipe by accident. It's a 2 inch wide
horizontal crack. When we went to home depot, the sales guy suggested
cutting that piece of piple and replacing it with coupling joints
(don't know the exact name). Is there an easier way like sealing the
crack with a tape or liquid glue or something?

3. One of the spinkler heads came off on one side of our lawn and the
water kept pouring toward the street instead of the lawn. We realized
this only yesterday. That side became dry, dead and brown but we
didn't know about this sprinkler problem till now. Now we've replaced
it and checked that it's watering well now. Is there anything I can do
for this season to get the grass back to green and growing again or is
it too late? Can I add any fertilizer and water like crazy?

Thanks a bunch.
