Default Mulberry Seeds?

Hi group. I'm back to this newsgroup after not posting for about 7 or
8 years. Last time I posted I was in high school living with parents.
I now am renting a place that has a porch and can start getting back
into the art. I'm trying to do so on a budget. Haven't bought a
thing yet.

There is a mulberry tree here, which I made several failed attempts to
propogate by cuttings. Now the funny things that seem to have
happened, is that the the fruit that was on the cuttings, has fallen
off, dried out, and propogated themselves. Or at least I'm fairly
certain this is what has happened, but I can't identify them yet....
I'm not using any store bought potting soil, so it's quite possible
that what I'm seeing, (or at least some of it), are just weeds that
are in the dirt I'm using. However, a few of them seem to have a bit
of seed on them - as if they came from it... I may take a picture
later. I've separated most of them into separate little pots, and
we'll see what happens.

I was just wondering if this sounds consistent with the behavior of
mulberries in the experiences of anyone here. Otherwise I may just be
bringing up a very well tended weed!

As soon as I am able to buy some real potting soil (yes, I am that
poor right now, I can't afford dirt - a luxury item) I'll probably try
to plant some of these berries and see what happens.
