I am a bit mixed up.
Let me re-phrase what you said.

You have owned this plant for a while.
The older leaves are browning at the tips then drying down the
length.
The new leaves are not as dark a green as the older ones.

There are so many variables.
We need more information.
The browning to me suggests too much fertilizer, but the light
green new growth could be too fast a growth because the
fertilizer is pushing it or it could be too much light for the
amount of food the plant has to grow. Which is a balance of the
root growth and the fertilizer again.

Do you grow indoors? Do you have a greenhouse?
Is the plant in a pot or growing in the garden?
If it is in a pot when was it last repotted?
What did the roots look like?
What do you use for potting mix?
How often do you water and fertilize?
How hot or cold is your weather (where are you)?

Any information you can give us will help us give you better
answers.
