thats what i thought too, but clearly in this care it was not underground
spread but surface srgead between ground and fabric ie container would have
to extend above landsccaping fabric and gravel.

Maybe I should have left a wide area around the clump free of fabric it
would not then have found itself trapped.

That's a really useful tip for other people planting bamboos. (Maybe
even for bamboo propagators).
