Near Patras in Greece is a wine bottling factory.

Inside there is a 1870 German built still, out of this still pours a
liquid that is better than any single malt. This liquid is diluted and
stuff is added to make it into a bog standard Greek drink.

I think (as a lover of good malts) that an 'IMO' is called for somewhere
in the above.

and in your sentence too :-)

I am sure that whisky stills also produce a liquid, that is better
than the final diluted oak flavoured product..

You don't have to buy the diluted product: many malts are sold
cask-strength. The maturation in oak removes higher alcohols (headache
molishers) and adds flavour. I have tried malt whisky straight from the
still, and it was 'interesting'.

I shouldn't think anyone would prefer it raw though.
