Default woodpeckers, grackles, etc Cicada wasps,

Another comment, I find it silly for robins and woodpeckers to be searching
for
worms in the ground when surrounded by grasshoppers in the hundreds.
Perhaps they are not tasty, but if they eat their legs or head they would
have a
quicker and ample meal then to look for worms.

Also, why are woodpeckers such nervous birds? They are the first to fly
when
a human walks into view. Also, do woodpeckers make a nice sounding call
near evening time?

As for the ugliest and worst sound for birds, I would have to say that
grackles
have one of the ugliest sounds in Nature. I can not say whether the
posturing sound of the adults is worse than the feeding sounds of baby
grackles in the nest. Grackles would easily compete in a "the ugliest
sounds in Nature contest".
