Default SPA Help

I do not know if this is the right newsgroup or not, but I couldn't find

any
others that might be close. I am considering buying a spa from a

warehouse
type location and not a retail dealer as the price seems to be better.

The
brand is lifesprings spa and the type of material that they use is called
duraflex. The model I am considering is the 8000 model. It has a 4 hp

motor
and 2 speeds. Is anyone familiar with this spa or company. Also, I live

in
CA and wondering if anyone know if having the GFCI located in the

structure
of the spa is legal?

Thanks for any help provided.
John

Stay away from Big Box Retailer spa's. You can get a much better one from a
spa dealer.
They are not built anywere near as well, are not well insulated, and usually
have underpowered pumps, and too few jets, compared to a good brand sold by
a spa dealer. They will cost a bit more, but this isn't somewhere to
scrimp. Do it right the first time.
Who's going to come out and service the thing if you have a warranty issue?
You should wet test any spa before you purchase, and you should also compare
several brands, just to see what's out there. At the very least you should
see one set up with water, so you can see the thing run.
Most of the Home Depot spa's I've seen are propped up on their sides,
leaning against a wall or something.
To answer your question- yes having a GFI breaker built in the structure is
fine, and will satisfy the NEC dis-connect requirements.
