Default Planting old corn kernels

My son would be so pleased that this yard and garden has been such a
comfort to me. It's so wonderful to share the bounty from it with others,
especially those who have shown me kindness these last few years. If
you're interested, Mark's pages are at
www.pacifier.com/~bowman which was
his account; it seemed appropriate to place his memorial pages there.

A lot of very nice stuff there... that's a kind of loss I can't possibly
understand. My daughters are 23 and 28, and I can't imagine losing them.

You are a gardener after my heart with the leek flowers.g I love to see
mine bloom and later use the scissors on them to include the bulblets (is
that the right term?)

These produce seeds, which I'll thresh and store once the flowers are
completely dry; every few years I leave some of the nicest leeks in the
ground to bloom the following year. Having gotten more information at the
Seed Saver's meet this summer, I may add another variety next spring. I
got William Woys Weaver's "100 Vegetables and where they came from" there.
Talk about a kid in a candy store!

So what do you do with all that garlic?

Eat, pickle, cook with, give away, eat more....there's not a vampire for
miles!

And now, I have to transplant a bunch of bok choi from a nursery bed for
fall greens and hopefully freezer stuffing. That and Rapini freeze
beautifully, and both are great stir-fried with garlic. Of course, so is
cardboard...

Cheers!
