IBC posts should strictly be about miniature scenery or trees.
Occasionally, however, we lapse into related shared interests.
If interested, a good promotional price on language learning tapes or CDs
including Japanese & Mandarin Chinese is available. You can contact me for
details. I'm not the seller or financially involved, but stumbled upon an
excellent offer (likely to end) for material I am using and like. The
program consists of 30 audio lessons of 1/2 hour each (I generally replay
each three times before moving forward) for $91.50. It lists for $345 & is
sold by Amazon for $241.50. The lessons teach speech-- not writing.
FWIW, the book _Remembering Hirigana_ by James Heisig is highly recommended
to begin study of written Japanese. Hirigana is the Japanese syllabary
(phonetic alphabet) for words of Japanese origin. It is only $10, new, and
perhaps is available in your library as it is in mine. Check out the
reviews on Amazon.com.
OB' bonsai, I was recently surprised when reviewing bonsai history
publications that Yunhua Hu credited the use of shallow marble trays for
penjing as introduced in the 1960s. I imagined an earlier & continuing use.
Are earlier Chinese penjing compositions not known on shallow stone trays?
Best wishes,
