Default Mosses: Utah and the West

I would like to draw your attention to the renewed availability of a
book that remains a valuable part of the literature on bryology.
"Mosses: Utah and the West" by Seville Flowers has just been brought
back into print by The Blackburn Press, making it available again to
libraries, scholars, botanists, ecologists, landscape architects,
horticulturists and others who wish to own or replace a copy of an
invaluable reference.

This classic book made a substantial and original contribution to the
knowledge of the mosses of Utah and contiguous states. It treats 256
species in 77 genera and 18 families, a large proportion of which were
discovered in Utah for the first time by Flowers. The author's
skillful illustrations form one of the finest features of this book.

"Mosses: Utah and the West" was first published in 1973 by Brigham
Young University Press. A monumental work, it provides keys,
illustrations, descriptions and information on geographical
distribution and habitats and offers detailed observations by Flowers.
A researcher, writer and professor of botany at the University of
Utah, Flowers specialized in bryology and phycology and was president
of the American Bryological Society.
