Dear Ms Poulton & Ms Liz Pentlow ,
THA Dinner 2003 and the THA
Thank you for the email notice of the THA dinner. I am too disabled to
wine and dine these days.
(Kindly note an altered email address, as at this message, not my former
academic email address which is not for general use).
Reference my call to Ms Poulton, I wish to have an acknowledgement from
the Editor of the Trinity Hall .'portrait' volume that I suggested inter
alia the inclusion of a chapter on the governance of Trinity Hall.
I put to Ms Poulton in that call that this subject was hardly mentioned,
if at all, in Charles Crawley's Histrory of Trinity Hall. I have repeatedly
tried, and failed over three years to have College governance debated by
Association members in time for new proposals at the Centenary next year.
As unfortunately I have got nowhere with this matter with the THA Hon
Secretary, Mr Barry Lewis, and its Committee (see a series of earlier emails
to Ms Gina Brown and your office), I wish to address an Open Letter,
proposing THA look at modernisation of the College governance, to all
Association members attending this Annual Dinner.
(Separately I wish to raise with the THA President -again - my right as an
Association member to put matters formally to Association meetings in
absentia, without a three-year struggle. This, before the matter is taken
out of our hands?).
Yours sincerely,
John R. Charter (1951)
