Default Carnations - question

In article , Glenda
writes
Last year, I planted carnations grown from seed and they flowered this
year. Although they've stopped flowering now they still look very
healthy with lots of new growthat the base - can I leave them in or
should I dig them out and replant new seedlings next spring?

leave them - treat them as perennials.
