Thankyou Stephen for very lucidly putting forward most of my thoughts and
opinions on the
GM debate (in far better English than I could muster)
Especially the paragraph about who stands to gain. I think the public is
being mislead over
the reasons for GM tests. I think anyone would be very naive if they thought
that
multinational companies were testing these crops for the benefit of the
general
public......

I would also disagree with Bry on the point that his cherry tree is "just as
alien as a GM cherry tree would be"
80 years of research in the science of genetics would make any new crops
*very* different
to your cherry tree.
