: Hi Everyone
:
:
: This must seem like a REALLY Dumb question.
:
: But what do I do about bulbs (Lilly and daffodil) now they are
: dying down. I have been told different things
:
: a: Leave alone
:
: b: Cut all leaves off above ground.
:
: c: Dig up bulb.
:
: I don't want to do wrong thing, I am a first time gardener who is
: reading lots of books but they are not as good as experience.
:
: also what the hell do i do with a Canna. It is in a container pot
on
: the patio, the leaves are dying but the stem is healthy.
By now you can safely clean up the lilies and cut the remaining top
off.
They are better left in the ground unless u want to move therm.
Daffodils
foliage would normally have cleared by now and the new shoots woul
be just
starting to emerge from the bulb. They are best left where they are
but you
can take them up, dry them and store in a brown paper bag in a cool
room.
This would not apply at this time of year though. Pass on the Canna
Canna : Wait until the foliage dies down then cut it all off including
the stem. Overwinter the pot in a frost free place (GH/shed/cold
bedroom). It will resprout in spring - might need a bigger pot, they
grow like wildfire :~)
