Default A maple with all-yellow leaves? FIREWOOD

llama mama expounded:

whoa, Dan! my sugarbush turns almost entirely yellow, with some tinge of
red not vice versa. the *swamp* (red) maples turn red, but the sugar
maples are yellow (as are the striped maples).
i'm no fan of Norway maples, but i think chopping trees by autumn leaf
color may not be a great move. how about going by the seeds in spring
instead? it would be much harder to confuse the two types of
'propellers'.

The Norway maple colors much later than the sugar maple. It's one of
the last trees to color around here, and it is totally yellow, no red
at all.
