Default [IBC] Removing dead leaves ??

Of the three choices, the only no-no is to pull them off.
Reason: next year's buds are tucked in at the base of the petioles (stems).
The old petioles provide protection for them until they can develop their
own protective coating. If you cut the stems ( for aesthetic purposes),
that's OK, so long as you leave an inch or so. If you do nothing, they'll
fall off by themselves during the winter.

Subject: [IBC] Removing dead leaves ??

Hi all;

My acer palmatum is starting to drop it's leaves.
The majority of them are turning brown and shriveled.
What's the recommended method of removing those leaves which are obviously
spent ?
Should I pull them off ?
Cut them off ?
Wait for them to fall off ?

Regards
