Default Moving a rose bush

In my garden I have an inherited climbing rose which has obviously been

here
a long time. It was growing up a very dilapidated & dangerous pergola

which
we have had to remove - it was rotting & falling down. So now the rose is
without a support & not in the best position. It flowers profusely so I'd
like to keep it, but when would be the best time to move it elsewhere?

Why don't you take some 9 inch cuttings of young wood right now and insert
them about 5 inches deep in the open ground? Leave them unattended through
the winter and find out next spring which of them are showing signs of new
growth. You are highly likely to end up with at least one rejuvenated rose
next year.
