Hi there Rosie, It would be nice if you could post a pic over on

But if not, you could do some searching to see if you
can find a picture of the flowers that looked like yours & come up with a
Genus,
like Phalaenopsis or Dendrobium.
Also what are the temps in your area?

Hello all,

last summer I bought a lovely orchid. There wasn't any info with it, so I
don't know what type it is. It flowered lovely and then we got infested

with
ants in our house. I put the orchid outside and it has been out there ever
since. The petals obviously dropped off but the leaves still look alive

and
well.

Should I bring it I now? Will it die if I don't?

I need help please cos I really want it to live another year if it can.
Thanks lots and lots, XRosie

if it has lived outside for as long as it has it is probably okay out there, and afterall for the most part it is rather difficult to kill an orchid plant. it is most likely a phalenopsis, dendrobium or cattleya. so if you get some time, go to

www.orchidspecies.com

which has picture of every kind of orchid imaginable. from there you can find out how to take care of it. and if it doesnt look exactly the same as ones that you see on the internet, it will probably have similar growing conditions. orchids are grouped in alliances, which are groups of similar orchids that appreciate similar condition, but may have different genera. if you can find out which alliance it is in that might help you take care of it. good luck.
