I currently run an evaporative type unit but am only able to achieve 30%

It probably is not the humidifier, it is probably the fact that
you humidifying the entire house. Unless you create a barrier to
keep the moisture around the plants, it will equalize as best it
can through out the entire space. It is very difficult to live
with that kind of concentration. You need to enclose the plant
area in plastic.
