Hmmmm. Is it every leaf? Do the number of "grains" vary from leaf to leaf? Most citruses have smooth undersides to the leaves. Granular clumps could be insect eggs or signs of oedema (but this is a condition of indoor plants, and you say your tree was o
utside). Can you wipe them off? If you can, do so, and watch the tree carefully for a few weeks. If you can't... well, take the plant to your county cooperative extension agent if it worries you. As long as the plant looks healthy, there's probably no
thing to worry about.
