Personally I find the little diversion very instructive. Either you
haven't been on Usenet very long, Sacha, or you view it through rose
(and delphinium) tinted spectacles.

Since the very beginning of newsgroups, threads have drifted. It doesn't
take a moment to check whether a post is on a topic you want to follow,
and most of the off-topic stuff tends to drift to a conclusion fairly
fast.

Of course, OPs get a a little bitter (Yes, thanks, a half-pint will do)
if others show more interest in the OT drift than their chosen
subject....
