Default [IBC] Australian Pine - Casuarina equisetifolia

Group:

Hi,

Does anyone know where I might obtain an Australian Pine -

Casuarina
Equisetifolia?
Thanks

You can dig them up around here and you might try Miami

Tropical Bonsai.
They have a web site. www.miamitropicalbonsai.com I think.

Unfortunately they cannot sell them. anyone else have a

suggestion?
Darcy

Yes. They are a designated invasive exotic plant in Florida and
it is unlawful to sell or transport one in the state.

Where do you live, Darcy? In North America, these trees grow in
southern Florida, extreme south Texas, and Mexico -- MAYBE in
southern California. They're also all over the Hawaiian
Islands -- unfortunately. In any of these places you probably
would be given a medal if you offered to dig up one or two. ;-)

If there are bonsai vendors outside of Florida who specialize in
tropical trees, they may have them. They're not dangerous
anywhere north of Central Florida since they freeze out easily.

Google for "Casuarina nursery" and see what happens.
