Default pond in Ontario - and the winter we haven't had (yet)

Janet,

Crazy weather is right, my pond temps were almost 60 today and the barrels
on my non-heated back porch where some of my fish are being kept had
barrel-water temps at 66 degrees today. It is suppose to really drop
tonight and tomorrow night, so things should be back to normal soon. My
barrel temps on the back porch have been hovering around 52 degrees all the
time they have been out there except this last week, and then today was
almost like spring.

Don I'm in Niagara Falls so I know first hand the wacky weather you are
experiencing. I'm not feeding at all and I won't till the water hits 50
degrees for at least a week. My pond is lit and I'm noticing the fish are
grazinf algae at night. They're just fine! )

Should I be concerned? Fish are swimming around, not "sleeping".
Approx. 300 gal x 28" deep max pond. 2 @ 6-8" koi and 5 small goldfish.
Fish not fed since late Oct. as is my understanding should not be fed

once
water temp is less than 50 F.
Has been unusually mild here in Whitby, Ontario i.e. about 48 F today.
Should be 25-30 F and 2 to 3 " of ice on the pond. Had an inch or so of

ice
back in Nov. during a cold spell but is long gone. Pond is winterized

with
plants set in bottom, filter and pump removed, air bubbler bubbling away

(in
case we ever do get ice).
Should I feed the fish since they seem to be active?
