Default Evergreen, Leaves and Needles...

G'day All...

This in in response to JimL post, 01/06, taken totally out of context...Jim
said "...NO tree keeps a leaf forever...".

However...a couple (or more) reference books tell me that the Bristlecone Pine
holds onto needles from 20-30 years. Now, that's getting close to "forever" in
needle/leaf life.

And then, the thought occurs that some of these Bristlecones have been aged
dated at over 4,000 years.

Speaking of age, one of our weeds in Arizona and Southern California, the
Creosote Bush, boasts the title of the oldest living thing on earth...a
speciman in the SoCal desert has been age dated at over 11,000 years...that's
even older than me!

Relation of all this to bonsai? I have a small collected Creosote...a gift
from a friend. I will attempt to age date it's source when I repot it ...soon.

Have a good day...
