Craig,

Is traditional Japanese architecture discussed?

Subject: [IBC] Japanese Homes and their Surroundings by Edward S.Morse

I just picked up a used copy of this book, and it looks quite
interesting. There is a long section on tokonomas, with a number of
illustrations including one with a suiseki in a tokonoma. There is also
a section on gardens including a brief description of bonsai with the
usual twist of curiosity mixed with puzzlement. All in all it looks
like an interesting picture of Japanese domestic culture at the turn of
the century.
