I am not sure what you mean by this question. If you mean the original
wild roses-the species roses, those of 5-12 petals, the answer is
probably unknown with any specificity at this time. If you mean
recognized classes of roses in the United States--
Hybrid Teas (traditionally recognized as created in 1867), Polyanthas
(1875) Floribundas (c1924), Miniatures (c. 1936), etc, the answer is
probably the latter. If you mean commercial market nomenclature--e.g.
ground covers, patios, disposables,
etc. the last named is probably 'shrublets,' used by Weeks a couple of
years ago..
