I just tried a search for "vegetable plants mail order" and clicked
on the "pages from the UK" button. The returned list looks pretty
useful to me.

Um, not to me. If you look more closely, you'll see that those sites that
are not directories, review sites, or link lists are selling seed, not
plants.

The exceptions are http://www.mammothonion.co.uk/shop/10/index.htm which is
the site that came to my mind when I saw this post, and Mr Fothergills,
which sells seed and plants, but not ready started veg plants.

I'm afraid David is looking for a service that doesn't seem to be much
offered. At any rate, the mail order plant suppliers that I review for the
ODP all seem to focus on bulbs or flowers rather than veg, and the veg
suppliers seem to focus on seed.

I think he might be better off phoning round local garden centres to find
out what they are planning to offer this year.

There may be a site out there offering veg plants, but if so Google isn't
being too helpful, and http://www.alltheweb.com/ can't find anything better
either.
