Default Killing trees which have tap roots.

The message
from Wendy contains these words:

I have a number of trees growing in my garden which were lopped right
down to just about 6" above the root. This act of wanton vandalism
took place about two or three years ago. Now I have a waist high
forest of pollards, for the want of a better word, which I would like
to get rid of, permanently. How do I kill the roots without removing
them and without killing the furry things which have taken up
residence in and around the roots.

Slow way: hammer copper nails into the roots.

Quicker way: continually spray with glyphosate.

Even quicker way: bore as wide as possible deep hole down the centre of
the trunk, almost fill it with battery acid (Dilute sulphuric) and nail
a piece of plastic across the opening.

The plastic is to prevent harm to people and creatures, not part of the
treatment.
