Default friendly dilemma

One thing I forgot to mention that some have already suggested...I did offer
to go over and help maintain his collection. He said very frankly, NO. I
did not mean it as an insult, but I think he perceived it as such.

A friend of mine has several very nice bonsai, which are starting to look
rather bleak. His health is not the best in the world, so I offered to
"take care of" some of his trees or even purchase some of them. His reply
was, "No, I still want more trees." I understand his love for his trees,
but they are in dire need of attention. Most of them were severely dried
out, while others were suffering from branch die back. I have been in
bonsai for 12 years and he has seen my collection and knows I could care

for
them. I know his trees are his business but I see so many wonderful trees
in danger of dying. Does anyone have any suggestions I might can use to
persuade him to at least let me take care of some of them?
