Default Wilting Camellias and Magnolias

Could it also be too much sunlight?

Too much heat could have dried out the soil, leading to the plant's
demise. Camelias can get sunburnt, and you will see this near the top
of the shrub on the sunny side: where for a dozen or more leaves half
of a leaf will have turned brown within a day or two of a particularly
scorching day. But I don't think moderate sunburn will kill the shrub.
They like morning sun, but do best where they don't receive the full
blast of the western sun in Summer.
