I have had the plant for a few days now, Ive sprayed and watered it in
the expexted way. The second flower stem is beginning to open.

My neighbour has artifical plastic plants in her window, but its clear
mine is real. It's about 4 1/2 wide and 4 foot tall overall and looks
really cool.I'm not certain which variation it is,I think its a hybrid
of some kind.

Phals are also very common here. In fact in recent years you can pick
one up at the supermarket and diy store. I have never been a great
lover of them as they have nice flowers but not much foliage, I was
looking for the wow factor which you certainly get with Cym's.

By an interesting co-incedence there are a number of orchid shows here
in the north east over the next month or so. Am looking forward to
going to them.

It just so happens that not too long ago someone else was asking for
Cymbidium culture info here as well, and I posted some links to Cym culture

While searching for this info, I found out that Cymbidiums are one of the
most popular houseplants in Great Britain. I don't think that they are as
common here in the US, at least in the area where I live in (Washington DC
area), Phals are much more common than Cyms.

Hope the links help you find out more about Cym culture, and feel free to
ask any questions that remain after you have read the info, I know that
several members of this group grow Cyms, and people here are very helpful.

centre of Darlington to do a little shopping.

To our utter amazement, and joyus surprise, we saw a massive Cymbidium

This was my first visit to an orchid show. Although small and
intimate, it was well laid out, with lots of varities to see and
things to. We bought some raffle tickets and left our vote for the
best in show award (we picked No20).

I think it was well worth the trip, we found the people there to be
polite, well up on their subject and keen to chat.

I have seen orchids at other general garden shows such as the one held
at Gateshead, but the variety on display was enough to persuade anyone
to pick up the hobby.

I thought the hotel could have offered free coffee as an incentive to
drum up some of their own business (they charged £1, thats my
marketing hat speaking).

It's a shame I am likely to join a more local club, but I felt it was
worth a mention for the club online.
