We've bought roses from the supermarkets and they often have the green wax
on them. It doesn't seem to wash off but does fade to a light grey colour.
Doesn't seem to do any harm although it looks a bit unsightly. I expect it
helps with storing them in warehouses or something...

Yes, I expect it's to keep them 'moist' ......... I was just wondering whether
it would slow down growth?
